Itinerary
A hidden distillery in the heart of the Pays d'Auge
Tucked away in the Auge countryside, this confidential distillery pairs traditional half-timbered Normandy architecture with bold contemporary design. Here, Calvados is discovered in a setting conceived as a jewel box, far from standardised tours. Your driver-guide, a former distiller, drives you there from your hotel and stays with you throughout, adding his technical insight to the conversation.
The secrets of distillation
Welcomed by the cellar master, you discover each step in making Calvados and pommeau: selecting the apples, fermenting the cider, distillation, then blending. A rare chance to put all your questions to the person who shapes every cuvée.
The ageing cellar
The highlight of the visit: a spectacular cellar where oak casks rest in a hushed atmosphere. The cellar master explains the role of wood, time and evaporation in the birth of the aromas, and how each cask is followed as it evolves.
Private tasting
Seated at the distillery bar, among the stills, you taste a selection of pommeau and Calvados of different ages, presented by the cellar master. An intimate tasting to learn to recognise the nuances of each brandy.
Terrace break (seasonal)
On fine days, extend the experience on the terrace, overlooking the hills and orchards of the Pays d'Auge. The perfect setting for a last, unhurried drink.
